American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider training including a section on blood-borne pathogens. Leads to certification in the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Class meets and exceeds all OSHA, WISHA, and L&I standards.

AHE 141 - PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN

Anatomy and physiology of the blood/circulatory system, medical/lab terms, lab policies/procedures, and proper specimen handling. On-campus lab sessions prepare students to perform standard venipunctures and skin punctures. Prerequisite: Placement into ENGLP 093 or AENGL 093, and completion of AHE 110, AHE 116, BSTEC 104, and HIV/AIDS and CPR, all with a minimum grade of 2.0 or equivalent.

AHE 146 - CLINICAL LAB ASSIST III

Participate in controlled laboratory environment. Perform processing of specimens, bedside, point-of-care, and moderately complex testing. Apply obtained phlebotomy skills, specimen processing, data entry, patient information retrieval via internet/other electronic devices. Prerequisite: AHE 145.

AHE 178 - IVPREP ASEPTIC TECHNIQUE

Covers sterile products and aseptic technique/equipment/supplies used in IV admixture, theory of unit dose medication distribution, and review of pharmacy calculations. Labs cover sterile preparation procedures in the laminar flow hood and unit dose packaging. Prerequisite: AHE 170, AHE 172, AHE 173, AHE 174, AHE 175, AHE 176, and AHE 177, all with a minimum grade of 2.5 or equivalent, or instructor permission.

REGISTRATION GUIDELINES FOR ENGLISH COMPOSITION COURSES: (If you do not meet any of the following conditions, please contact the Enrollment Services Office at 425.640.1000.) Students who have NOT completed ENGL 099 at Edmonds College must take the placement test. Make an appointment at the Testing Center, Mountlake Terrace Hall, Room 152 or call 425.640.1546.

Register for ENGL 099 if: you receive placement in ENGL 099 from the Testing Center or from your AENGL or ENGLP instructor; or if you completed ENGLP 093 with a grade of 2.0 or higher; or if you are currently enrolled in ENGLP 093. (You must earn a grade of 2.0 or higher in ENGLP 093 to remain enrolled in ENGL 099.)

Register for ENGL& 101 if: you receive placement in ENGL& 101 from the Testing Center or from your AENGL or ENGLP instructor; or you completed ENGL 099 at Edmonds College with a grade of 2.0 or higher; or you are currently enrolled in ENGL 099. (You must earn agrade of 2.0 or higher in ENGL 099 to remain enrolled in ENGL& 101.)

Register for ENGL& 102 if: You completed ENGL& 101 at Edmonds College with a grade of 2.0 or higher; or you are currently enrolled in ENGL& 101 (You must earn a grade of at least 2.0 in 101 to remain enrolled in 102.); or you complete, with a grade of at least 2.0, a course at another college that is equivalent to ENGL& 101. (To get your ENGL courses evaluated, take an unofficial transcript to Enrollment Services.)

ENGL 099 - CRITICAL READING/WRITING

Prepares students for ENGL&101 and other college level courses. Emphasizes comprehension and critical reading skills, basic composition methods, rhetorical principles, and approaches to college discussion. Helps students strengthen academic sentence-level conventions, and introduces students to academic citation. Prerequisite: ACCUPLACER, essay placement, or permit from ENGLP or AENGL.

HLTH 105 - EMERGENCY RESPONSE/CPR

Following the guidelines recommended by the American Heart Association first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and AED for the basic first responder. CPR card earned only if skills assessment passed. First aid card with a 3.0 GPA or higher. S/U grade option.
